Do you think if I write a book about vampires people will automatically think I copied Twilight?

The idea for the book just came to me. The only similarities it has with Twilight is the fact that both of our vampires drink blood, there will be no sparkling, no floral smells, and definitely no more cliches about love. It also doesn’t involve an abusive boyfriend.
I didn’t think that people will say I am copying Twilight, I just want to make sure because that would be terribly annoying.

I don’t think that people would think that you’re copying Twilight. Just make sure to use a different style of writing, and don’t have huge similar things ex; “vegetarians”, sparkly vamps, red/amber/black eyes, etc.

Only Twilighters may think that. However, everyone else (aka normal people) will definitely not question your writing. It’s not like Stephenie Meyer owns the vampire genre… because if she did we would live in a twisted and terrible place.

Some people might, but just ignore them. I’ve read plenty of great vampire books and didn’t see any similarities at all with Twilight, and i’m a huge fan of twilight

Well, most Twilighters don’t realise that there were vampire books before Twilight. Stephenie Meyer did not invent them, she just mutilated them.
Twilighters will probably think you are ripping her off. Non-Twilighters will acknowledge the differences.
